The Active School Flag Initiative
About the Active School Initiative-What is it?
The Active School Flag is a Department of Education and Skills initiative, organised through Mayo Education Centre and supported by Healthy Ireland, which aims to recognise schools that strive to achieve a physically active and physically educated school community. In order to achieve the Active School Flag, schools must firstly self-evaluate and then plan, implement and monitor improvements in physical education, physical activity and partnerships with pupils, parents, the local community and national agencies, as well as holding one Active School Week that continues as an annual event thereafter. Here in St. Clare’s N.S., we have decided to embrace this challenge and have registered to enthusiastically work towards achieving recognition as an Active School.
